Yesterday, Charlie met a new man on the street who claimed to be a prominent historical Wild West figure.  No flip title, and OOC I was pretty sure it wasn't sanctioned by the Administration.

When he introduced himself, Charlie responded by looking at the man doubtfully and introducing herself as Mary Todd Lincoln.

I only responded IC, but OOC - - - how does the administration of Deadwood want such things addressed?  I am making an assumption that if a historical character is coming to Deadwood - - - it would be announced possibly somewhere (like the forums).

I met this man, and after talking to him in an IM I set him straight.  If asked about it, he should explain that he understands the rules, and if asked IC, he should act like he was pulling everyone's legs.

It's always good when folks can kindly clarify things for newcomers, who are not always aware of the rules and regs we have.  (I love the Mary Todd Lincoln response, lol, IC thinking someone is mad is always fun).

You can IM someone, kindly let them know the guidelines and very likely, make a new rp friend.
 
Most often it is someone who just wants to play a favorite historical figure -- and of course, they can play a "likeness" without having to get admin approval, just not a historical figure.
